This Cold Shoulder top is perfect for weekend wear or even work attire. I’ve paired it with white jeans for a summer feel. The classic “v” neck is a great touch as this small accent softens the upper body and adds a nice detail.

Hello my lovely ladies! I am so excited to announce the upcoming sip and shop happening this week at Fab’rik. Join me Thursday, from 4 PM to 6 PM to see the latest in vacay chic fashion. I will be helping style outfits for your beach trips, lake trips, and all the trips in between! It’s time to kick off your summer in style, and Fab’rik is the perfect place to do it.
And of course, for my fabulous friends, I have to give a little sneak peek. Here are two outfits, one for day and one for night, that I couldn’t take my eyes off of!
Let’s dive right in to this amazing Fab’rik tank and short combo. If you are anything like me, shorts are a tough one. Finding a pair that is long enough to feel comfortable but stylish enough to look good is not always easy. These are perfect! The pink and purple pattern is adorable and great for throwing on and going to the pool or into town for a little shopping excursion. The pop of pink is great for breaking up an outfit, and the lace up shoes are a nice touch. You can also throw on a pair of sandals or a wedge to dress the outfit up or down.
And for night… This maxi is AMAZING! For someone who is not a maxi kind of girl, I have been taken by this one. I will let you in on a secret…it is the first maxi I have added to my wardrobe since the season of wearing maternity clothes in 2003 when I gave birth to my son. I know –crazy. The pattern is perfect for beach wear, and not “so in your face” you could put in in your regular wardrobe rotation! Paired with some wedges and a fab hat you are set for the sun! I added a strappy bra-let under my maxi to add a little added detail.
I would also like to take a moment to point out the amazing beaded stackable TEE bracelets I’m wearing. These are a Fab’rik staple, and a statement piece in your accessory collection. They are sweet, simple, and affordable but make a great impact for any outfit.

Hope your local weather forecast, like the rain we’ve had in Austin, hasn’t brought you down in the dumps. Perhaps many of you can’t wait to head to the beach or simply seek out the warm summer sun instead? I don’t know about you, but some serious Vitamin D is calling my name. I mean, have you seen my mayonnaise legs in the latest posts? Not even photoshop could make those babies bronzed.

As you can tell there are so many adorable choices out there! Pick one that best represents your personality and style.
1.} Flamingo Straw Tote– A simple and tropical bag that gives any outfit or swimsuit a pop of color.
2.} Blush Straw Bag– I love the unique body style and handle on this bag! Its subtle color promotes a modern but natural flair.
3.} Milagro Circular Handbag– This bag really stood out to me because of its unexpected shape and the adorable touch of detail in the pompoms.
4.} Ague D’ Mar Tote– Now I know this is a bit of a wild choice, but it’s so quirky and fun! Big brother is watching. Just saying. Where are the built in cameras?
5.} Totes Y’all Vanderbilt Tote– You can never go wrong with a bold script canvas bag, especially one that features the signature Draper James magnolia-shaped hardware. Did I mention Reese Witherspoon is my southern sister from another mother?

7.} Alice + Olivia Stace Face Straw Tote– This bag is a total girly-girl accessory. I love a dramatic bag with a whole lot of personality. I wish my eyelashes were that long!
8.} Watermelon Cool It Y’all Tote– Summertime warrants something covered in watermelons or pineapples–perfect for making a fashion statement and adding flair to your poolside attire.
9.} Kayu Piñata Tote– What a dramatic and playful tote to carry on your arm! The striped texture of the tote is soft to the touch and is large enough to stuff a bunch of pool/beach toys inside.
10.} Fallon & Royce’s Tote– Another script canvas tote but its clever graphic statement, that makes me smile, is made out of sparkly beads!
11.} Mar y Sol ‘Ibiza’ Woven Tote– Now if this does scream, “I’m made for summer!”- I don’t know what does! This is definitely one of my favorites and is on my wish list.
12.} Tory Burch Gemini Link Tote– No woman can go wrong with a Tory Burch bag! I love this orange and navy color combo and pattern, and the fact that it is waterproof. This style of a tote can also easily transition from work to play.
13.} Lilly Pulitzer Bohemian Tote– This tote is on the smaller size, but it certainly makes a punch with its rich, bright tones!

We are always looking for outfit and make up tips for taking things from day to night… But what about the key accessory—the perfect handbag? I often times see stunning ensembles and on point hair but am thrown off by the bag.
Let’s face it, there are times in life we need to stuff our mom purses full of junk for the day’s activities, and times when we should leave it to a lip stick and credit card.
Here are some tips and tricks for selecting the right bag for every occasion:
When it comes down to it, bags can be broken up into two groups: work and play. My number one tip is to have your play bag fit into your work bag for easy access. A fabulous shoulder tote with a cute little clutch tucked inside is the way to go. Or just bring your clutch and throw it in the car to have it on hand!
There is also nothing more annoying than a bag that is too big for its own good. You know the kind. Your shoulder gets rubbed raw by the straps and you can’t find anything in it even if you dump it all out. Find a bag that can fit your planner, a small cosmetic pouch with touch-up make up, and your essentials like credit cards and keys. When you have excess things to bring with you to work, like lunch or important documents, put it in a separate shopping bag. I love saving my Nordstrom’s and Neiman’s bags for this. Or add a small protective insert that you can easily throw in to protect them from harm.
And when it comes to play, I use this as an opportunity to have FUN! Clutches are the perfect excuse to mix patterns or add a new metal accent to your outfit to make a statement. Both the snake skin and leopard clutches shown are perfect options for throwing into your work bag and switching up your look for the night.
We’ve all been in a place where we tried to bring a larger bag to the party or dinner and had nowhere to put it. By going with a clutch or wristlet, you are assuring enough space to have more than enough room for your nightly essentials.

Ladies, if you are looking to feel elegant and not lose all form of movement {a.k.a. hemline is too short to bend over}, I have found the ideal minidress for you! This Joie ditty from Nordstrom is the perfect pick. The sheer fabric breathes well for the upcoming heated months. The cinched gathering in the middle gives this rectangular shaped gal a waist {HA}, to a flowy bottom which is perfect for a flirty and fun look.
And did you see that fabulous floral print? My friend and fellow stylist, Jackie Mewbourne, always says, “Prints are personal!” and I agree. Some florals are hard to pull off—often overpowering the person wearing them. This subtle combination of colors and pattern in this minidress is classy and sets the perfect tone for a day to night choice.

Invest in water bottlesand keep around you all the time. (In your car, desk, gym, grocery shopping, etc) There are many different opinions on how much water we should be drinking every day. The health authorities commonly recommend eight 8-ounce glasses, which equals about 2 liters, or half a gallon. This is called the 8×8 rule and is very easy to remember. Want more energy throughout the day, HYDRATE! (tea and any other drinks that contain water, is not considered your water intake.
Take a daily probioticto keep the gut healthy. Did you know that all vitamin/mineral absorption takes place in your gut!
Take a digestive enzymewhen eating out.
STRETCH! When you are doing intense training, Stretching keeps the muscles flexible, strong, and healthy, and we need that flexibility to maintain a range of motion in the joints. Without it, the muscles shorten and become tight. Injured muscles may not be strong enough to support the joints, which can lead to joint injury.
NEVER go without eating for more than 3 hours.

Ladies who lunch, this one is for you!! Are you on the board of a charity, or a part of your local country club? If so, you have probably been to a luncheon. And you have probably been stumped at what to wear.
Being inspired by the upcoming Butterfly Brunch, where I am creating a Runway Styling Experience to benefit the Lake Travis Education Foundation, I wanted to give a little insight on the matter!
Here are a few tips on how to lunch in style from yours truly:
KNOW YOUR CROWD. There are many types of luncheons, and nothing worse than showing up to one under dressed. If you are going as a guest, always ask your friend what the attire will be like. Know if you are heading to a spring dress kind of place or somewhere you should be dressed more business professional.
PLAY IT SAFE WITH COLOR. I like to tell clients it is best to play it safe with color in a situation like luncheons. Don’t go too bright, neon is something to stay away from. But also, try to step away from the black section of your wardrobe. Wearing pastels is the perfect way to stand out while fitting in.
THINK OF WORK AND PLAY. Most ladies going to lunch are working it into a busy schedule. You have to be dressed to go back to your 9 to 5, or head to your next meeting. While carrying a clutch to something like this is a great idea, some times it just isn’t practical. If need be, bring your bag, just make sure it’s one that fits with what you are wearing, and not that old clunky one we all can’t seem to let go of.
